On the 5th of June the UN is holding an international conference ‘World

Environment Day’. India will host the event and scientists, academics and English
activists from around the world will meet to discuss the most pressing
     issues.

As the world’s climate changes rapidly the planet’s eco systems too are being

severely affected. Alarmingly, a recent report by Australia’s National Coral Bleaching
Task Force has revealed huge damage to the Great Barrier Reef – the largest coral
     ecosystem on Earth.

Scientific surveys have reported that 93% of the coral reefs have been bleached white.
The underwater organisms are losing their colour and vibrancy and this is thought to
be due to rising sea temperatures which stress the corals. If the bleaching continues
for too long, the corals will die.

Only last year in April in Paris world leaders met to discuss ways to combat global
warming and climate change. The first three months of 2018 have been the hottest
ever recorded and the discussions in Paris focused on what we all can do to look after
our planet. What do you think you can do to have a positive effect on the
     environment?
